I am specialised in bharatanatyam &#8211; Classical Indian Dance Theatre &#8211; and research the application of rasa (emotions) and Indian Dance Theatre for the therapeutic context. In artistic projects I am passionate about intimate and autobiographic work and decolonial perspectives. I enjoy being part of empowering communities. Phoenix e.V. &#8211; an antiracist association- and Natya Initiative Berlin &#8211; an initiative for community building in Berlin\u2019s Classical Indian Dance scene &#8211; are important parts of my work and life.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ich bin Theatertherapeutin (DGfT \/ ITI) und Regisseurin\/Performerin. Ich habe mich auf bharatanatyam &#8211; Klassisches Indisches Tanztheater &#8211; spezialisiert und erkunde die Anwendung von rasa (Emotionen) und Indischem Tanztheater im therapeutischen Kontext. For updates check the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eva-isolde-balzer.com\/project_eva\/?page_id=83\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"> NEWS<\/span><\/a> section&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>studies:<br \/>\nTheatre-School ACTEA\/ France, Normandy 2000-2002<br \/>\nCultural Anthropology (BA) at Freie Universit\u00e4t\/ Berlin 2006-2010<br \/>\nBharata Natyam\/ Berlin,Chennai and Bangalore 2006-2013<br \/>\nDramatherapy &nbsp;2016 &#8211; 2023<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-size: medium;\">Decoloniality&amp;meet MIMOSA<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: inherit; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 100;\">In 2012 I initiated the collective<\/span><span style=\"color: #b22222;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.meet-mimosa.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #b22222;\">&nbsp;\u201emeet MIMOSA\u201c<\/span><\/a>&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: inherit; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 100;\">together with Andre Vollrath and Laura Werres. \u201emeet MIMOSA\u201c works about the state we experience, when our perception of the self or the world is shaken. It focuses on the deconstructions of the idea of \u201eown\u201c and \u201eother\u201c and other themes in relation to decoloniality. The first series of work&nbsp; researches and stages the discourse of Critical Whiteness under the project title: blank. Since april 2012 I am teaching the series of workshops blank1. These workshops focus on the perception and permeability of one\u2018s own identity. The first performance \u201eblank2:ich&nbsp;<\/span><em style=\"font-size: inherit; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 100;\">wei\u00df<\/em><span style=\"font-size: inherit; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 100;\">\u201c has been premiered in February 2013. The third project in this series is the performance \u201e<\/span><em style=\"font-size: inherit; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 100;\">blank: wer_wei\u00df?<\/em><span style=\"font-size: inherit; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 100;\">\u201c. It was premiered in December 2013 at Rathaus Sch\u00f6neberg\/Berlin and is still touring. The most recent project is &#8222;<\/span><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/earthport-project.blogspot.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Earthport<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: inherit; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 100;\">&#8222;, &nbsp;&#8211; an intercultural experiment to shift borders, transgress labels and recreate a healing human connection through performance. Earthport is a German-Egyptian Co-production with Nora Amin and the Cairo based &#8222;Lamusica Independent Theatre Group&#8220;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Intimate and human specific Performances:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Since 2008 I am performing regularly with the Danish Theatre <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cantabile2.dk\/\"><span style=\"color: #b22222;\"><span style=\"color: #b22222;\">Cantabile2<\/span><\/span> <\/a>in human specific performances; especially the one-on-one labyrinth-performances Venus Labyrinth and Seek to Seek. With Maria Stoyanova (Barcelona\/Sofie) I am creating Human Specific Installations in the project: <span style=\"background-color: #ffffff; color: #800000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.balzer-stoyanova.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"background-color: #ffffff; color: #800000;\">BalzerStoyanova<\/span><\/a><\/span>. The experiments with intimate and autobiographic aspects run like a thread through all my works.&nbsp;&nbsp;2016 I &nbsp;co-directed &#8222;Earthport&#8220; &#8211; a human specific performance-collaboration with the Egyptian Theatre Lamusica Independent Theatre group (Nora Amin) and meet MIMOSA. (<span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/earthport-project.blogspot.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">http:\/\/earthport-project.blogspot.de\/<\/span><\/a><\/span>)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Decoloniality&amp;Classical Indian Dance-Theatre:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Besides the study of cultural anthropology (BA 2010), I studied since 2006 Classical Indian Dance Theatre (Kuchipudi\/Bharata Natyam) in Chennai and Berlin, with <span style=\"color: #b22222;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rr-dance.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #b22222;\">Rajyashree Ramesh<\/span><\/a> <\/span>and other teachers. Thereby I am working on questions of Hybridity, the definition of \u201eown\u201c and \u201eother\u201c and the challenges of post-colonial perspectives.&nbsp;This research resulted in performances such as the <span style=\"color: #b22222;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/berlin-margam.blogspot.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #b22222;\">Berlin Margam<\/span><\/a><\/span> (with Rajyashree Ramesh, Dr.Avanthi Meduri and Manickam Yogeswaran), Hybrid Identities, and <span style=\"color: #b22222;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.johannadevi.com\/productions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #b22222;\">Santosham<\/span><\/a>.<\/span> My Solo \u201eBalaPina2\u201c, that was created in that context, was chosen to be presented in the final of the competition \u201eGermany\u2018s best dance solo\u201c. Since 2014 I am touring &#8222;Raga-Abhinaya&#8220; together with <span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.myogeswaran.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Manickam Yogeswaran<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other &nbsp;Collaborations:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Since 2006 I have been working closely with the Egyptian theatre-maker\/writer<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Nora Amin\/La Musica Independent Group<\/span> in Cairo\/Alexandria. I performed in Amin`s shows \u201eCat Dying\u201c and \u201eMy Country\u201c. The autobiographic solo \u201eMy Country\u201c toured in Denmark, Egypt, Morocco, Albania, Ukraine, India and Spain.
